Zsófia maurer
Hello! I’m Zsófia and I’m an aspiring photographer based in South East London with a background and day job in psychology research. I’m fascinated by the inner workings of the human mind and the big questions in life about purpose, happiness, or spirituality. Using photography I explore a colourful palette of themes informed by my philosophical and psychological interests. I call it visual contemplation, a sort of two-way process in which I start out with a concept, then mindfully photograph my subject until it ‘teaches’ me something new to deepen my original understanding. Everyday moments, textures, shapes, substances, or reflections become saturated with meaning as my mind, the camera’s lens and the ‘outer’ world engage in a creative dialogue.
Themes to explore visually
Rhythms and patterns in nature, the built environment, and the human body – be it coincidental or conscious
The deeper, higher, and ineffable layers of reality and the psyche
